Confidence, Confidence, Confidence.

With over 15 years' experience as a GCSE English tutor and with a great track record of success in improving grades, I truly believe that confidence is the key to success and building that confidence is my superpower—or so I've been told!

As an award-winning playwright, I have a deep understanding of language, character and dramatic structure. Studying plays feels like home to me. I can help students look beyond the surface of a text — exploring not only what a writer is saying, but why they have chosen a particular word, structure, character or dramatic device. My experience as a writer allows me to bring texts to life and make literature feel exciting, accessible and relevant.
Time and time again, I work with students in year 10 and 11, who are filled with self-doubt. Students who sit quietly in class, hoping to stay out of sight, who never want to put their hands up or contribute to discussions in lessons. The upsetting thing? These students are smart. They're creative and full of fantastic ideas but in a busy classroom there often just isn't the time for those ideas to come to the surface. As a result, a student can fall behind very quickly. That self-doubt is often reflected directly in the GCSE English exams.
My goal is to transform students into confident readers and writers who can tackle any question thrown at them. The good news is that GCSE English exams are far more predictable than many students realise. We see the same types of extracts appear time and time again: striking, intense, often gothic, dramatic and full of suspense and tension. Often, we see the same questions in literature, exploring similar themes. I'll help students recognise that these exams are not trying to trick them! In fact, examiners really want students to show off their knowledge and skills! Once you know what to look for, you'll realise there's always plenty to say—and that's when we start to thrive in English!

Why small-group lessons?

The hours available for tutoring are incredibly limited. Lessons need to fit around the school day—but not too late! As a mum myself, I know that everyone needs sleep!

In the past, I've often had to turn away new students simply because there weren't enough hours in the week. By teaching in small groups, I can welcome more students while keeping my lessons more affordable.

I know tutoring is a significant investment and I want as many families as possible to have access to high-quality English tuition.

Most importantly, my groups are never larger than five students. I don't want anyone to feel lost in the crowd or too nervous to contribute. With just five students, everyone has the opportunity to ask questions, take part in discussions, and receive the individual feedback they deserve.

For me, small-group tuition offers the best of both worlds: the encouragement and interaction of learning alongside others, with the personal attention that helps every student grow in confidence and achieve their potential.
Why Choose me?

Lessons that students actually enjoy.

Forget "I talk, you listen"—that's not how I teach!
My lessons are interactive, engaging, and full of discussion. Every student has something valuable to contribute, and I make sure everyone feels confident enough to share their ideas. Building confidence is just as important as building knowledge and the best way to do that is by creating a classroom where every voice matters.

Everything needed for GCSE English success.

Every lesson is carefully planned to cover the skills needed for both language and literature. We'll explore each question type in depth, so students know exactly what examiners are looking for.

Regular feedback, no surprises.

I believe parents/carers should always know how their child is progressing. Regular assessments and personalised feedback help us celebrate improvements, identify areas to work on and make sure we're all working together towards those fantastic grades.

Consistency is key

My Lessons will run weekly throughout the school year, helping students build skills steadily, retain what they've learned and develop the confidence they need before exam season!

A tutor who genuinely cares

I absolutely love teaching and I'm fully invested in every student's progress. Their successes genuinely matter to me and I'll always go the extra mile to help them reach their potential.

Support beyond the lesson

Learning doesn't stop when the lesson ends!
Students (and parents/carers) have an open line of communication with me if they need advice, reassurance, or help between sessions. Whether it's a quick question or a confidence boost before a mock exam, I'm always happy to help.

100 percent success rate.

In the last year 100 percent of my students have improved their grades, often by at least two grade boundaries. I take great pride in this! Every student has stayed with my lessons up until their exams.
